Does MWPSK Support MSSQL ?

Jun 5, 2009 at 3:19 PM

Hello, I am familiar with the XML-Based 'Persistable' design pattern and i really liked the way it was implemented.

I am now facing a big project which has to be built on a database.
Does MWPSK support MSSQL Server as a datasource as well?

are there any scripts or configurations which i can use to make it work?

Thanks ahead,

YAT

Hi YAT,

MWPSK is designed as a file-based CMS, so would require custom coding to get it to persist to a dB.  You could alter the Persistable<T> class to allow saves to a dB, but it could be a fair chunk of work.  It's possible to do, but you may find yourself fighting against the overall design a bit.

Note, depending on just how large your project is, you may find the file-based approach is still viable.  I'm aware of some fairly large sites being hosted in MWPSK - although sadly, I don't have any metrics for scalability - maybe another (large host) poster can provide some figures?

In summary, if you really, really need SqlServer as a native data store, there may be better-suited CMS alternatives available.

HTH,

Jim.
