Hi, is anyone experienceing weirdness with Win7 and IE9 when trying to update a hyperlink in a content area with the fckeditor and the "link" popup box being completely blank? Then trying to close the box doesn't work, have to shut down whole browser?

Yep. You have a problem with FCK editor in combination with IE9.
The FCK editor isn't supported anymore and instead you should switch to the MWPSK's default FreeTextBox ór the successor of FCKeditor which is CKeditor (
I chose for the last option because to my opinion that one is much more better then the FTB. The only constraint is that with the CKeditor, you don't have an out of the box file/image browser.
Last weeks I spent much time integrating the Simogeo Filemanager in CKeditor: and succeeded.

If more people are interested, I can post that solution.

Hi, yes I'm interested! Could you post the solution? Since the text editor here can alter code can you post it in an external site or doc?

Because I also received a lot of good contributions from this community, I hereby share my part ;-)
You can find the Pando CKEditor and Simogeo Filemanager integration MWPSK for v1.3.2 at

Hope it helps!

Hi, this is great! Thanks so much. One question, how can browse server to create a link? I want to I upload a PDF file through the CKEditor/FileManager and then link to it from a hyperlink.

I did the integration specific for the image upload and selection.
For that, the MWPSK Image handler is used (ImageHandler.ashx)

For other file types I normally use the MWPSK Downloads section.

You can modify the behaviour of the FileManager yourselve however.

Start looking in files:
CKEditor\filemanager\connectors\aspx\filemanager.aspx.cs (method IsImageExtension)

Hope it helps,

Thanks! Okay, I got the PDF upload working. What I now see is that when I select some text and try to make a hyperlink using the Link dialog, the "Browse Server" button in the dialog popup does not display. It asks for a hard url, rather than a way to be able to select the PDF I just uploaded off the server. Is there any way to do that?

I don't think CKEditor supports that functionality.

Perhaps you can use the functionality on the "Link" tab when selecting an image ...... ?

Good luck, geert

Hi, the "Browse Server" button doesn't come up in any of the Link or Image popup dialog windows. On the CKEditor's site, the button appears in their demos and screenshots. Someone in the in the CKEditor forum mentioned something about "permissions" for the editor in order to display those buttons, but I for the life of me can't find a solution :( , It's useless to my client if they can't add a link to an image or text in the editor.

Has anyone tried to integrate ckfinder with ckeditor?   It is their filemanager

Jun 30, 2011 at 11:06 AM

If the "Browse server" button doesn't show up, you propably forgot to add the property "FilebrowserImageBrowseUrl" in the CKEditor:CKEditorControl control of file HtmlEditor.ascx

<CKEditor:CKEditorControl ID="CKEditor" runat="server" Toolbar="customized" BasePath="~/CKeditor/" FilebrowserImageBrowseUrl="CKEditor/filemanager/index.html?type=Images" Height="200"/>

Can you verify that?

@pgkdave: I tried that and succeeded just following the manual from CKEditor.
However the CKFinder isn't free. You need to buy a (site)  license.
For my customers that wasn't an option......

Geert, yes, the "FilebrowserImageBrowseUrl" property was already in your solution, just as you posted above. Pgkdave, no I havent tried ckfinder, just as geert mentioned it is not free. I may have to get one though, hoping to get  geerts solution working. I might add that, on the CKEditor site in their demo the LINK popup has 4 tabs: Link Info, Target, Upload and Advanced plus the Browse Server button, whereas in geerts solution it only has 3 tabs: Link Info, Target and Advanced.

EDIT - If anyone reads this and has the above issue, I since just added  <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8" /> to the head in Site.Master file and continue to use FCKEditor, free, with no issues.
